It is situated on a hill facing the proud Dinara mountain (1913 m) and the scenic Cetina river meandering throught the karst field to the north, and the little historic settlement of Vrlika with its medieval fortress to the south. Only 5 km to the southeast there is a Peruća lake which is ideal for bathing and fishing. Even the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I was impressed by the beauty of the countryside when he visited Vrlika in 1875 praising the quality of perfectly pure air and water and, since this region has escaped industrialisation and commercialisation, this has not changed much until present time.
